I worked on that for a while this afternoon. It took me about 2 hours, but I solved it. I think the conjecture at the bottom would be wrong now, because more people have seen things of that format and because people, in general, tend to have more "book learning" now. Just an opinion about the way the education system has changed, not whether that's good or bad.
According to Blogger, this is my 99th post. You can expect something special for #100. You can expect it, but it ain't gonna happen. Part of the reason is that my blog is way past 100 posts, they're just sitting on my hard drive and not online anymore. Most of the reason, though, is that I'm just not going to go to the effort.
Perry White: Lois, Pulitzer Prizes are like Academy Awards, nobody remembers what you got one for, just that you got one.
More tomorrow.

I solved it in 20 minutes (thats not bragging or anything, just sayin), however I did use an excel spreadsheet which I would guess saved me considerable time than writing it down on paper and erasing and writing something over it and what not
Part of my time was setting up a solution grid on an Excel spreadsheet. I didn't actually use any features of Excel, and I assume you didn't either.
20 minutes is fast, though. I know I made a couple of mistakes that cost me time, but that is probably faster than I could reproduce it now.
20 minutes? SLOW! It took me less than 20 seconds. Of course all I did was read the top part, give up, and scroll down to try to find the answer. Who has a fish as a pet anyway? Don't most people have fish (as in plural)? One fish seems like a bit of a waste.
That coming from the guy who enjoys playing video games where you shoot rainbows as a weapon?
Just had to bring it up again
I am pretty sure Jeff used to play that game with us. It was the sequal to bubble bobble, which we know he plays. Why am I defending myself...OLE MISS!
Oh yeah, and that game was Awesome!
To my knowledge, I did not ever play the sequel. I saw you playing it one time after (I think) an ear surgery or something, but I don't think I ever played it. I usually played the TMNT trilogy (the original, the Arcade Game, and the Manhattan Project), Tetris / Dr. Mario, and Bubble Bobble I. I may have played the rainbows game once and just blocked out the memory, so I won't completely deny ever playing the game, but I don't remember ever playing it.
Also, third place in the pro football league. Not bad for starting off as poorly as I did.
